Author's Story:

DeWayne McCulley was just like you (maybe worse!) He beat his diabetes, and so can you!

DeWayne had never been sick a day in his life when he was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Just like many of you, he was shocked to say the least. Just like you, he didn't really know what to do, so he listened attentively to his doctors. He discovered that he was lucky to be alive and to have survived a near-death diabetic coma with a blood glucose level of 1337. DeWayne didn't know what that really meant, but he could tell from the looks on the doctors' faces (at the hospital) that a glucose level that high wasn't good.

He found out later from his daughter that his blood glucose level was
more than 1200 points above normal!

Are you skeptical? (I would be!).
Take a look at the doctor's medical report (PDF file) of DeWayne's blood glucose level and other health issues; or, watch a TV news video (below) or read what DeWayne's doctor said in a newspaper article about his miraculous recovery.

Fortunate for DeWayne, his daughter (Cynthia), his mother, and his sister (Margo) flew to Rochester to take care of him.

Learn how his daughter and his mother and sister helped save his life -- this is why a support system is so critical to beating this disease.

Despite two blood clots, high cholesterol, pneumonia and four insulin shots a day, DeWayne was able to use his college educationengineering experience and biochemistry background to wean himself off the insulin, Coumadin and Lipitor -- to reverse his Type 2 diabetes. He lowered his average glucose level to 92.5 mg/dL and his hemoglobin A1C to 4.7%,  while losing 52 pounds to reverse his Type 2 diabetes within 4 months.

He credits his recovery to
God, his doctors and nurses, his mother, his daughter Cynthia, a set of accidents (blessings), and his undying thirst for knowledge -- despite all of the "impossible" challenges he had to overcome.

With a lot of encouragement from his daughter, his mother and people from work, the local churches, wellness industry, and the ADA diabetic support group he was facilitating, DeWayne developed a 10-step solution and a real diet for diabetics that works, and wrote the book,
Death to Diabetes.

Did You Know That?:  The "Death to Diabetes" book has become one of the top-selling diabetes books in the country while helping thousands of diabetics. "Death to Diabetes" has recently been rated as one of the top-rated medical books and top-rated health books in the country, by several medical groups and health groups! The book is now being sold internationally in countries such as the United Kingdom, Canada, Italy, South Africa, India, China, Australia, and Brazil.

If you want to understand the science behind DeWayne's book and his wellness program, read this web page about the medical sciences and engineering sciences that he used to design his program.

This book (now one of the top-selling diabetes books) explains his experience with diabetes, the real root causes of diabetes, and the pathogenesis of the disease.

The book also explains how to reverse Type 2 diabetes and its complications -- by avoiding the 5 "dead" foods, eating the 5 "super" foods, taking the 5 critical wholefood nutritional supplements; following the Death to Diabetes®  Six (6) Stage Medical Wellness Model and the
Super Meal Model Diet for Diabetics (aka THE Diabetes Diet); and, utilizing the 7 wellness factors, including consistent exercise, blood glucose testing/analysis, stress reduction, and spiritual health.

The author's hope is that this book and his wellness training programs will inspire you the way he was inspired -- by people he never would have met if it weren't for his experience with diabetes.

FYI: Mr. McCulley admits that it was very intimidating when he realized everything that he would have to do to manage his diabetes. Trying to navigate through the various activities every day was very intimidating and confusing at times. There was a lot to remember: from pricking his finger 6-8 times a day, to recording the blood glucose readings, analyzing the readings, injecting himself with insulin 4 times a day, taking other medications (i.e. Coumadin, Lipitor), planning meals, preparing the meals, shopping for groceries, making doctor appointments, recordkeeping, and finding time to exercise.

Mr. McCulley was surprised to discover that there was no structured, systematic step-by-step process that would guide him through managing his diabetes on a daily basis. As a result, once he got well and decided to write the book, he decided to develop a structured step-by-step process and a set of charts and templates so that other diabetics would not be as overwhelmed as he was. This led him to develop the 6-stage model and the 10-step process. The 6-stage model provides an overall guide of what to do on a monthly basis. The 10-step model provides a guide of what to do on a daily basis.

Later on, he developed several meal planning diagrams, charts  and journal templates that would make it easier for diabetics to track their daily activities and monthly progress.

Author's Note:

During workshops and seminars, I am always asked how I defeated or reversed my diabetes. I also receive hundreds of emails asking the same question.

Here's a summary of what I usually tell people:

Hello,
I was able to reverse my diabetes and its complications primarily with family support, daily exercise, God's science, and superior nutrition, i.e. raw salads, raw juicing, green smoothies, plant oils, nuts/seeds, beans/legumes, etc.

I was fortunate because of my background in science, biochemistry, and engineering. Also, I was blessed because my mother refused to let me die.

As you are probably aware, the keys to defeating diabetes is diet, exercise, and spiritual health. This is true for most diseases.

But, I discovered that most people with diabetes were still eating the wrong foods, even when they thought they were eating healthy!

For example, most people eat oatmeal or cereal with some fruit in the morning for breakfast. This type of so-called "healthy" meal only fuels the diabetes! (Just test your blood sugar 2 hours post-meal, and you'll see that your blood sugar has spiked!)

In addition, most people with diabetes rely on drugs such as metformin (Glucophage). But, these drugs only cover up the symptoms of the disease and don't address the root causes of the disease, i .e. cellular inflammation, insulin resistance, cellular dehydration, etc.

As a result, the disease continues to rot out the body! And, eventually, all diabetics on metformin end up on insulin.

I realize that a lot of what I'm saying is controversial, but I now work with other medical doctors who support my program.

Author's Note:
Superior nutrition has a bigger impact on glucose tolerance and insulin resistance more so than any other wellness factor, including exercise.

My background in biochemistry and engineering, and my research into pathology, etiology, and epidemiology has helped me to understand diseases such as diabetes at the cellular level.

As a result, I am able to design nutritional protocols that help the body successfully fight diseases/maladies such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity, and chronic fatigue.  Once you understand the science of disease and. the science of nutrition, it's a lot easier to design wellness solutions that will actually work.

During my research and discussions with thousands of diabetics around the country, I discovered most diabetics were making the same mistakes! But, most diabetics didn't realize that they were making some of these mistakes. The good news is that once they stopped making these mistakes, their blood glucose levels started to return to normal.

If you have doubts, please read my personal message.

Follow these steps to get started today on your journey to wellness.

Author's Note: "Most people are aware that diet and exercise help to control their diabetes, and even slow down its progress, but it doesn't stop the disease from spreading and causing more damage. This is a key point for diabetics who are doing a good job at controlling their diabetes with diet and exercise. I define this as "Stage 4" of my 6-stage diabetes recovery/ repair/reversal model. Diabetics who reach Stage 4 have a major opportunity to reach Stages 5 and 6, and actually eradicate the disease! -- instead of just controlling it."

Health Statistics of African-Americans
During his medical research, the author was shocked when he discovered  the large number of African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, and other ethnic groups that were affected by Type 2 diabetes.

As a result, the author decided to do some additional research into understanding these health statistics. He has come to realize that the problem goes far beyond just the lack of knowledge. This has led him to write the ebook titled "Why Black People Are Droppin' Like Flies" .

African-Americans are also very likely to develop depression.

Many diabetics (including the author) are warned by their physicians that they will eventually experience depression. Unfortunately, their solution is to add more drugs on top of the diabetic drugs.

The very first seminar that the author attended after he got out of the hospital was about depression and diabetes. The keynote speaker at the seminar emphasized that every diabetic in the room (including the author) would eventually experience depression and that there was very little that could be done to stop it.

When the author went to see his endocrinologist, he recommended that the author see a psychiatrist to get the proper medication for his impending depression.

Author’s Note: I was simply amazed at the number of doctors and experts that believed that I was going to eventually become depressed.

For more information about depression, read our web page about depression and get the Defeat Depression ebook from our online store.

Who is DeWayne McCulley?

You've probably heard of several doctors and other healthcare experts talking about and writing books about reversing diabetes. Maybe you've even seen some of these doctors and experts on television or in the newspaper. In fact, many of these doctors have heard of DeWayne McCulley. But, why haven't you heard of DeWayne McCulley?

You would think that if someone almost died from diabetes and wrote a top-selling book, then, that person should have been on Oprah or at least on some TV infomercial.

During the past several years, have you noticed that the number of commercials about prescription medications has steadily increased? Did you know that the number of drug commercials has more than doubled over the past 5 years?!

Have you ever wondered why there are so many commercials about prescription drugs?

Unfortunately, many of the major TV stations now receive millions of dollars from the pharmaceutical industry. Did you know that? Well, believe it or not, the pharmaceutical industry directly and indirectly controls what you watch on television!

The average American watches 2.7 hours of television every night. During that time, you may see as many as 16 commercials about prescription drugs! -- unless you're only watching cable TV.

As a result, the number of prescriptions for medications has reached more than 3.5 billion for over 150 million Americans, with drugs for diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol being the top-sellers.

So, as you can see the pharmaceutical companies are making a tremendous amount of money, and they don't want that to stop. In fact, they want it to continue to increase each and every year -- as it has for the past 20 years! And, they don't want Americans thinking that there is a better option out there that doesn't involved their drugs.

At this time they don't really consider Mr. McCulley a  threat because he's a nobody with no celebrity status. And, they want to keep it that way.

But, since Mr. McCulley is not famous, why would such an unknown be considered a possible threat to the multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical industry that could shake up the medical and healthcare industries?

Mr. McCulley has been approached by several TV shows, but the TV producers are concerned that America may not be ready for his message.

So, what is his message that America may not be ready to hear?

Mr. McCulley says: "My message is a message of hope -- that if you're a Type 2 diabetic, you can improve your health and reduce your medications. I cannot promise that you will definitely reverse your diabetes and completely get off all your medications, but, I can promise, that based on my experience with diabetes, you can improve your overall health, with measurable results."

So, why do the TV producers believe that America may not be ready for his message?

I think there is something else happening here. Let's take a closer look at the facts:

Mr. McCulley happens to  be an engineer, who worked in Corporate America for 30 years. He overcame a diabetic coma. He had a blood glucose  level over 1300, and he was taking 4 insulin shots a day. About 4 months later, his blood sugar was down to 92 and he no longer required any insulin shots.

And, all of this is documented in a medical report that happens to be available on Mr. McCulley's website -- so all of these facts are easily verifiable.

Now, just imagine this man talking to someone like Oprah or Larry King (although they're no longer on ABC or CNN). His story is credible. His story is verifiable. He's an engineer. He understands medical science. He speaks very well. He writes very well -- his book "Death to Diabetes" is now one of the top-selling diabetes in the country. Engineers are well-known for their intelligence and analytical skills for solving complex problems.

If you put that all together, you may have a story that could go viral! Imagine the headlines on CNN or another major station: Tonight at 11, we have a man who  almost died from a diabetic coma, he had a blood sugar over 1300. But today this man is alive and well; and, is helping thousands of other diabetics come off their medications!

Can you imagine how a story like that could affect the pharmaceutical industry? Especially since Mr. McCulley's program helps you reduce and get off the top -selling drugs for diabetes, high blood pressure, and cholesterol.

Could it be that the pharmaceutical companies are concerned that if this man were on national television that he may connect with people in America -- people who are looking for a credible solution to their diabetes and all the drugs they're taking?

Okay, so that we now know why you haven't heard of this man, how can you help? We asked Mr. McCulley that same question, and he said: "I would like people to follow the program and gradually (and safely) wean off as many drugs as possible. Then, when they get healthy, tell a friend or a relative. If enough people get well, we'll have a grass roots movement in this country."

Unfortunately, Mr. McCulley's idea would take forever. How do we get around such a powerful group as the pharmaceutical industry? The pharmaceutical industry controls TV, radio, the newspapers, even the government! We have a David & Goliath scenario here, don't we?

Well, the pharmaceutical industry can't stop us from starting a grass roots movement that leverages the Internet and platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Google, and email.

In March 2002, DeWayne McCulley survived a near-death, diabetic coma with a blood glucose level of 1337 (more than 1200 points above normal); and, lived to tell about it. He credits his recovery to God, his mother, and his daughter Cynthia. DeWayne used his 30 years of experience in engineering and biochemistry to beat his diabetes and help other diabetics as a volunteer of a diabetic support group for the American Diabetes Association. With support and encouragement from several churches, his mother, and his daughter, DeWayne wrote the top-selling diabetes book, Death to Diabetes.
The Death to Diabetes book explains his diabetes experience, the root causes of diabetes, and how to beat the disease -- based on his 6-stage model, the 5 "super" foods, the 5 "dead" foods/chemicals (to avoid), the 7 wellness factors, and research from more than 200
 clinical studies.
DeWayne is an engineering graduate of Pennsylvania State University, worked for Hughes Aircraft and Xerox Corp. for 30 years, and was a  math tutor volunteer for the Urban League for more than 15 years. DeWayne grew up in a small town in Western Pennsylvania, where he was blessed with strong parents and great teachers, who gave him the hope and the vision to eventually help others. NBC TV Introduction, Other Introductions

Despite the dramatic improvement in his blood glucose and hemoglobin A1C tests results, DeWayne's endocrinologist felt that he would eventually be back on insulin within 3 to 6 months. That was back in August of 2002 ...

Because of his miraculous recovery and the success of his wellness program, DeWayne (who grew up in Western Pennsylvania and graduated from Pennsylvania State University, B.S./E.E.) continued to receive phone calls and emails from diabetics all over the country, asking questions about their specific health needs.

One of the reasons why DeWayne wrote his book was to reduce the number of phone calls and emails. However, as the book has become one of the top-selling diabetes books, the number of phone calls and emails have continued to increase, leading DeWayne to start health coaching over the phone.  That, in turn, led DeWayne and his company Death to Diabetes, LLC to join forces with a health services company. As a national diabetes educator and health coach, DeWayne conducts Death to Diabetes® workshops and seminars, and provides professional health coaching services to various companies, organizations, families, and individuals.

DeWayne's daughter Cynthia believes that he is a cross between Chris Rock and Dr Oz, because he's able to use humor and his medical knowledge to provide an entertaining lecture about diabetes. And, Cynthia believes that people love his message because it is inspiring and brings hope to so many people who identify with what her dad has gone through. And, because he faced all the problems that diabetics face, these diabetics identify with him, and they feel hopeful that now they can get healthier.

DeWayne, who has been featured in news articles and on radio shows in various cities, credited his success in Corporate America to strong parents, great teachers in elementary, junior and senior high school, and the blue-collar work ethic of the steel mills in Western Pennsylvania. DeWayne states emphatically, "For some strange reason, I was blessed with great teachers who reinforced what my parents had instilled in me -- that I could do anything as long as I was willing to put in the effort and do the work. Ironically, that work ethic mentality helped me to successfully fight and beat my diabetes."

Accidents or Blessings?
What I learned over the years as an engineer in terms of design, planning, testing, data analysis, and writing prepared me to successfully fight this disease and write the book "Death to Diabetes".

Of course, I realize that my recovery from diabetes may be an anomaly due to my engineering background and a series of “accidents” that helped me through my recovery.

But, my mother said: "Son, there are no accidents -- those things that keep happening to you are blessings from God. And, you need to share those events with other diabetics to help them defeat their disease."

Well, since I wasn't completely certain what happened to me was a series of accidents or blessings, I felt compelled to share what happened to me.

FYI: The following are some of the "accidents" or blessings that occurred, and led me to help other diabetics and eventually write the book.

Hospital Events
I was in the intensive care ward for the first seven days of my hospital stay. There were several times that I could have died, but there were several interesting events, some of which I believe redirected my fate.

There was a lot of disagreement concerning why my blood glucose level was so high. Some of the hospital doctors were convinced that I was an alcoholic, until my doctor showed up to set the record straight. Otherwise, without my doctor’s help, I’m not sure if I would have received the proper treatment at that critical time when my life was still in the balance.

I remember the head nurse – her energy, her drive, and her commitment to keep me alive. I believe she didn’t go home that first night and was very responsible for keeping me alive during that critical time. (I sent a letter to the hospital personnel department a couple months later thanking her and the other medical staff for not giving up on me).

For some reason, one night, I couldn’t go to sleep no matter how hard I tried. Then, a nurse came in to give me some medication. But, something told me to ask her: “Why are you giving me this medication? What is it for? I haven’t been given any medication at night before now.” Then, the nurse realized that she was in the wrong room! She apologized profusely and left immediately.

As my health started to improve, one of the people from my engineering team (John Stein) stopped by to visit me in the hospital. At work, we called him “Elton John”. I believe it’s because of his hairstyle and the fact that he played the piano or guitar. Later that day, when one of the nurses asked me how I was doing, I said, “Pretty good, Elton John just stopped by to say Hi.”
The nurse said: "Really? You just talked to Elton John?"
So, because the doctors and nurses thought that I might be developing dementia, they provided almost hourly encouragement and advice during the rest of my hospital stay to improve my health. As a result, I learned so much more about diabetes, medications, how hospitals worked, etc.

More Accidents
During my recovery, there were several serendipitous accidents that my mother refers to as “blessings that were meant to happen.”

The first accident (or blessing) occurred when the head nurse didn’t go home when her shift ended the day I entered the intensive care ward of the hospital.  She was instrumental in keeping me alive during those initial critical hours when it appeared I was not going to make it.

Another accident occurred just before I was discharged from the hospital. One of the nurses, who was a diabetes educator, gave me a ticket to a diabetes health conference being held locally. I was fortunate to be invited to this conference where I met hundreds of diabetics, health care professionals, doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and medical sales people. I met many diabetics who were without limbs, in wheelchairs, wearing coke-bottled glasses, limping, and severely overweight. This became my catalyst for change because I didn’t want to lose a limb, my eyesight or end up in a wheelchair.

When I returned to work, I met several people who were also diabetic. They were surprised to find out that I was able to reduce the amount of insulin I had been taking. Because so many people kept asking about this, I prepared a 1-page document that explained what I was eating to help reduce my blood glucose level and reduce the amount of insulin that I was taking. This 1-page document turned into a 10-page document, then, a 75-page document, that eventually because the foundation for writing the book! (But, at that time I never dreamed that I was ever going to write a book!)

The people I worked with were very instrumental in my recovery because they picked up some of my responsibilities, preventing me from being under a lot of stress.  The people in our organization pitched in and hired a local chef to prepare some healthy meals for me. Since I wasn't much of a cook and since my mother and daughter had gone back home, this was very critical to me being able to eat healthy and continue fighting my diabetes.

Support Group & Church Meetings
Then, another one of those accidents occurred when a member of a local diabetic support group (Alfreda) asked me to come to their meeting and share my story about diabetes. Coincidentally, Alfreda had catered a picnic for the organization I worked for a couple years ago and she had heard what happened to me from a secretary who worked for one of my previous managers.

After I shared my story with the diabetic support group, I was surprised by their energy and enthusiasm for someone they had never met. Then, I was asked by the local director of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) to facilitate the diabetic support group meetings. It just happened that the person who had been facilitating the support group meetings had left for a better job opportunity a few weeks earlier.

This was a key event because I met some wonderful people who shared their stories about diabetes, including their personal concerns and frustrations with fighting this disease.  I was able to use this forum to help many diabetics and learn even more about diabetes.

Another accident occurred when one of the local churches asked the ADA director to give a presentation on diabetes but she came down sick, and asked me to do the presentation. Even though I had never done anything like this in a public forum, the presentation went very well. That led the church to form their own diabetic support group that I helped to facilitate; and, where I learned even more about diabetes.

Then, several other churches that heard about the presentation asked me to give a similar talk to their congregations. Then, one of the directors of the American Heart Association asked me to work with several of the local churches tied to their Healthy Heart Program. As a result, I conducted several well-received diabetes seminars with a number of church denominations, including Baptist, Pentecostal, Methodist, Seventh Day Adventist, and Christian.

And, then, I was accidentally invited to a health fair held by a local Hindu temple, where I met some wonderful doctors and other healthcare professionals, who encouraged me to write a book about my experiences.  Within just a few months, I had met hundreds of new people.

In the meantime, I would accidentally run into some of these people at the mall, grocery store, post office, car dealership, etc. and I would end up talking about diabetes, drawing a large crowd of people almost every time I spoke!

When I told my mother how I would keep running into other diabetics, she said: "Son, God is bringing these people into your life so that you realize that you have a story that needs to be shared with others."

Every time I shared my story with an individual or a group of people, they kept asking if I were going to write a book. I kept saying "No". I felt that I was doing enough by facilitating two diabetic support groups and giving lectures almost every week.  But, my mother and my daughter kept after me -- nagging me to write a book! Smile

Then, one day, the American Diabetes Association fired me and the director who had brought me in to run their diabetic support group. I found out later that there were some complaints from doctors because some of their patients had either reduced their medications or had come off their medications by following my dietary suggestions.

Ironically, this event so angered me that it gave me the fuel and the energy to eventually write the book!

And, just when I thought the "accidents" had stopped, at a local health fair, I met a wellness consultant, who invited me to a meeting of other wellness consultants. That led me to begin thinking about what I was doing as a real business, which led me to eventually build a website and begin speaking to various groups beyond my local community.

This eventually led me to speak at a medical conference, where I was video-recorded, and ended up on YouTube. And, all of sudden, I was getting phone calls, emails, letters, etc. from people around the country; and, then, eventually, from people around the world!

There is no doubt in my mind that I have been truly blessed to be able to do what I do. I just hope that enough people find out so that they too can defeat their diabetes and help other people around the world ...

Doubts?

Author's Note: If you have any doubts or are skeptical about my program, I understand -- there are a lot of diabetes books and programs out there claiming that they can help you.

But, none of these diabetes books or programs will share their actual nutritional program on their website without you having to buy something first! That's how confident I am that my program works.

Just try my Super Breakfast and watch your blood sugar begin to return to normal within 7-14 days!  What have you got to lose?
