Author's Perspective: When I was diabetic, I used MS Excel spreadsheets to do my meal planning. But, when I started doing talks, the Excel spreadsheets didn’t go over very well. :-)
So, I created a pictorial representation of what a healthy meal plate should look like. The meal plate diagram was such a big hit at my next talk, that I had to make over 300 copies just for one meeting. By the following month, I had made and handed out more than 2,000 copies!
Later, I had to create additional examples of meal plates for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack for the meetings. At that time, I didn't realize that these diagrams would become the foundation of my diet program; and, later, my book.
The following are the pictorial representations of the sample meals for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack.

As previously mentioned, this meal plate model and this type of plant-based diet is supported by hundreds of clinical studies, including the China Study.
The benefits of a plant-based nutritional program can prevent and possibly reverse the effects of heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, and possibly some cancers.
This meal plate model has many of the attributes of the Zone Diet, Mediterranean Diet, Paleo Diet, South Beach Diet, Raw Food Diet, Asian Diet, Detox Diet and Vegan Diet.
