Author Sidebar: When I designed my diabetes nutritional and dietary program, I did not specifically design the program as a cleanse and detox program.
However, because I designed my nutritional program to address toxic load and several harmful biological processes, it turns out that my program can be used for detox purposes.
The key biological processes that my nutritional program addresses includes:
- Chronic inflammation
- Oxidative stress (chronic oxidation)
- Insulin resistance (incl. hyperinsulinemia)
- Excess protein glycation
- Excess toxic load (cellular toxicity)
- Immune system dysfunction (e.g. autoimmunity)
As a result, once you go through a complete detox, you can use my diabetes nutritional program and diet as a detox maintenance program.
Cleanse and Detox Diet Benefits
The key benefits of this diabetes detox diet includes the following:
- Stabilize blood glucose levels
- Lower blood pressure, cholesterol and inflammation markers
- Burn belly fat and lose weight (fat)
- Lower cortisol levels (stress hormone)
- Increased energy, no fatigue or brain fog
- Reduced food cravings
- Able to absorb more nutrients from healthy foods
- Able to gradually wean off the drugs
- Able to prevent diabetic complications
- Able to reverse diabetes and its complications
- Reduce immune system dysfunction
- Remove accumulated toxins in tissues and cells
Cleanse and Detox Diet Attributes
Here is a list of the key attributes of this diet:
- Plant-based meals
- At least half the plate contains vegetables
- High fiber content (30-35g/day)
- Nutritional supplementation (Whole food-based)
- No flour, gluten, sugar, wheat, other grains, fructose, processed foods, fast foods

- No dairy, especially pasteurized cow's milk/cheese
Types of Toxins
The types of toxins addressed by this diet include:
- Organic chemicals
- Heavy metals
- Food additives
- Metabolic waste products
- Emotional toxins
Note: These toxins accumulate in your cells and tissues (especially the fat cells) and prevent your body from healing. As a result, this prevents you from being able to lose weight and reverse your diabetes.
Top Foods for Diabetes Detox Diet
Here is a list of the some of the foods that should be part of your diabetes nutritional program that will help with detoxing:
- Apples (Green)
- Bell Peppers
- Collard Greens
- Green Tea
- Milk Thistle
- Raw Juice
- Water (Filtered or Distilled)
Note: Make sure that you buy only organic vegetables and fruits, especially if you've been diabetic for more than 5 years or if you are also fighting an autoimmune disease, which can be triggered by pesticides and other chemicals in the vegetables and fruits.
If you can't afford organic, then, make sure that you peel the skin or use an effective cleanser to help remove the pesticides.
Cleanse-Detox Diet Reverses Diabetes
The cleanse-detox diet and overall program are similar to the Death to Diabetes diet and program in that they help to reverse your diabetes in several ways.
First of all, the cleanse-detox program and the cleanse-detox diet help to address the primary root causes or co-factors associated with Type 2 diabetes, including the key biological processes that fuel the disease.
Specifically, the cleanse-detox diet and program reduce the chronic cellular inflammation that is responsible for causing immune system dysfunction and damage to the arterial walls (atherosclerosis). As a result, your cells and tissues can repair and heal themselves. And, if your cells can't repair themselves, then, you can't reverse this disease (completely).
In addition, the cleanse-detox diet and program reduce the chronic oxidation (oxidative stress) that is responsible for the free radical damage and accelerated aging of the cells and tissues.
The cleanse-detox diet and program reduce the toxicity and excessive toxic load within the cells that prevents the cells from being able to perform its 5 primary functions (absorb nutrients, produce energy, expel waste, regenerate, communicate). If the cells in your body can't perform these 5 functions, then, you won't get well. In fact, your health will continue to deteriorate and you may even develop an autoimmune disease!
Also, the cleanse-detox diet and program help to reduce the excessive protein glycation (advanced glycation end products, AGEs) that is responsible for causing damage to the blood vessels and capillaries of the cardiovascular system. This damage is responsible for health problems such as retinopathy, neuropathy, nephropathy and heart disease.
And, finally, the cleanse-detox diet and program reduce the insulin resistance that fuels Type 2 diabetes and is responsible for the hyperglycemia, insulinemia and cellular inflammation. As a result, this helps to prevent the onset of major diabetic complications.
We are unaware of any cleanse-detox diet or program that is as comprehensive and addresses so many multiple issues.
Death to Diabetes Detox Diet Prevents Diabetic Complications
By following this type of detox diet (along with the Death to Diabetes Super Meal Nutritional Program), you can prevent or stop the progression of major diabetic complications such as retinopathy, nephropathy, neuropathy, or heart disease.
