The Reverse Diabetes 6-Stage Transformational Program: From Diabetic State to Non-Diabetic State in 6 Stages

Author's Perspective: When I was diabetic, my doctors told me that it was impossible to transform your body from being diabetic to becoming non-diabetic. They said: Once a diabetic, always a diabetic. When I asked them why, they got upset with me.

To me, it made sense that if I became diabetic from eating poorly, that I could go back to being non-diabetic if I changed my body's biochemistry by changing eating habits.

Of course, I realized that it would be a lot more complicated than that, but, it bothered me that my doctors were so adamant against me even trying to change my body's biochemistry ...

How to Reverse Type 2 Diabetes

Question: Do you understand what it means to "reverse your diabetes"?

This phrase is an oversimplification of a complex set of biological processes that was coined by people who understood very little about diabetes!

Actually, what is meant in reversing your diabetes is to "biologically and biochemically transform the chemistry of your body from being in a diabetic state back to being in a non-diabetic state."

In other words, at the cellular level, the cells in your body must be repaired so that they can absorb glucose while reducing cellular inflammation, cellular free radical damage (oxidation); and, red blood cell (RBC) glycation.

From Diabetic State to Non-Diabetic State

So, I decided to design a program that would take my body from a diabetic state (Stage 1) to a non-diabetic state (Stage 6).

Since my body went through several stages to transform from being non-diabetic to being diabetic, it only made sense that it would require that my body go through several stages to transform from being diabetic to being non-diabetic.

Now, at that time, I didn't really believe that I could transform my body from a diabetic state back to a non-diabetic state because (as I mentioned earlier) my doctors told me that I would remain diabetic.

But, once I was able to wean myself off the insulin, I began to believe that it was possible.

The 6 Stages of Repair, Recovery & Reversal

As you go through the 10 steps of the program, your body will go through a transformation that will change the biochemistry in your body from Stage 1 (diabetic with no blood sugar control) to Stage 6 (non-diabetic with complete blood sugar control and reversal).

We are not aware of any other diabetes program that actually explains how to change the chemistry in your body from a diabetic state back to a non-diabetic state.

As depicted in the diagram below, this is accomplished by taking your body through several biological stages of Type 2 diabetes transformation --from no blood sugar control (Stage 1) to complete stabilized blood sugar control and reversal (Stage 6)

As the biochemistry is changed, it reduces various harmful biological processes, including hyperglycemia, insulin resistance, cell inflammation, excess oxidation (free radical damage), protein glycation (damage to red blood cells), and excess cell toxicity (buildup of toxins in cells and tissues). This helps the body's biochemistry gradually change from being diabetic back to being non-diabetic.

And, as this change occurs, this enables the cells and tissues that have been damaged from the diabetes to recover and repair themselves. This is a key component of "reversing" the disease.

When your body's biochemistry is initially changed (due to eating green vegetables, healthy proteins/fats and drinking raw juices and green smoothies), it reduces hyperglycemia and insulin resistance. As a result, you will gradually notice your blood sugar being lowered (Stage 2).

As your body's biochemistry continues to change, your blood sugar is lowered even further. This requires a reduction in the dosage level of your diabetic medication (Stage 3). Otherwise, if you don't reduce the medication's dosage level, your blood sugar will go too low and you'll become hypoglycemic. 

As you continue to follow the Death to Diabetes nutritional program, this provides the cells with the proper nutrients to initiate the cell repair and healing processes. This also helps to stabilize your blood sugar levels, which is just as important, if not more important than lowering your blood sugar. Cell repair and stabilization of your blood sugar (Stage 4) prevents the extreme highs and lows that many diabetics usually experience.

Gradually, the cell repair spreads to other organs and tissues that have been damaged from the diabetes (Stage 5). How well these organs and tissues are repaired is a function of nutrition, age, how long the person has been diabetic, and how long the person has been taking diabetic medications. 

Once the body's biochemistry has been changed back (e.g. reduced cell inflammation, oxidation, glycation and toxicity); and, if all of the organs, tissues and cells are repaired to at least 85% of their normal functional levels, then, the person's body is able to achieve a complete reversal of the diabetes (Stage 6) -- back to a time when the person was not diabetic.  

If your body can't repair the damage caused by the diabetes, then, you can't "reverse" the disease. You end up just "controlling" and maybe "stopping the progression" of the disease, which is still important, but, you don't achieve the end result that you want, which is a total reversal of the disease.

This is why it's so important to follow a comprehensive nutritional program such as the Death to Diabetes Nutritional Program. As you are probably aware, most, if not all, diabetes diets focus on lowering your blood sugar by following a low GI diet and/or a low carb/high fat diet. This may work in the short term, but, since, Type 2 diabetes is more than a blood sugar problem, a low GI/low carb/high fat diet will not work in the long run! 

And, since most low GI, low carb and high protein/fat diets don't address all of the harmful biological processes and root causes that fuel Type 2 diabetes, your body won't repair itself at the cell level and will remain in a diabetic state.

This is the only known science-based diabetes wellness program that provides such a well-structured and in-depth blueprint (roadmap) from diabetes (Stage 1) to no diabetes (Stage 6) that any layman or doctor can follow it.

Stage 1 to Stage 6

The 6 stages of this diabetes program (depicted in the above flow diagram) takes your body from Stage 1 where you have no blood glucose (BG) control to Stage 6 where you have complete blood glucose (BG) control. 

And, when you reach Stage 6, you will have achieved stabilized blood glucose, reduced inflammation/oxidation and a complete reversal of your diabetes.

Stage 1: No Blood Glucose (BG) Control

This is the stage where the majority of diabetics usually find themselves in the beginning, with an average fasting blood glucose (BG) level that is greater than 126 mg/dl or an oral glucose test measurement greater than 200 mg/dl.

During this stage (and the next 2 stages), you must avoid all of the 5 "dead" foods as much as possible in order to initiate the change in your body's biochemistry.

And, just as important, you must focus on eating lots of green vegetables, raw juices and green smoothies which contain the key micronutrients that your body requires to nourish, balance, and detox your cells.

Stage 2: Blood Glucose (BG) Control with Drugs

This is the stage where most diabetics transition to when they underestimate the disease and are unable to improve their cell health and control their blood glucose level with nutrition and exercise.

During this stage the diabetic and his/her doctor are trying to use drugs to help lower the diabetic’s blood glucose level and eventually bring it within the normal range.

Warning! This is the stage where many diabetics fall into a trap where they become too dependent on their diabetic drugs, cholesterol-lowering statin drugs, and high blood pressure drugs. Why?

Because these drugs actually work as advertised! They lower your blood glucose, cholesterol, and blood pressure! So, many diabetics think that they're actually getting healthier!! But, they're not! These drugs create a false sense of security and a strong belief that the drugs are the answer. Eventually, you will find yourself taking even more drugs in the future! Have you ever heard of anyone getting better from taking more diabetic drugs?

Stage 3: Blood Glucose (BG) Control with Reduced Drugs

This is the next stage for a diabetic to reach as long as he/she is willing to change their diet and follow our program.

This usually occurs after the diabetic realizes that drug therapy is not the long-term answer. Most diabetics are able to lower their blood glucose level and reduce some of the dosage levels for their prescription drugs during this stage because they make the necessary nutritional and lifestyle changes. In fact, many diabetics experience weight loss and consistent lower blood glucose readings during this stage.

But, this stage can become a difficult battle because the cells still have to deal with both the disease and the drugs, even though the diabetic is taking less drugs. The drugs continue to fuel the diabetes and create an impedance to the body’s repair and healing processes.

But, the key is to stick with the program and continue to avoid the dead and processed foods that fuel diabetes.

During this stage some diabetics add raw juicing, more green vegetables and increased exercise. By doing this, it helps to further change the biochemistry in the diabetic's body so that they can reach the next stage.

As depicted in the following diagram, gradually lower your carb and protein percentages and increase your fats, but, make sure that you don't decrease your intake of the healthy carbs, e.g. green, leafy vegetables and raw green juices.

Stage 4: Stable Blood Glucose (BG) Control with No Drugs

This is the stage that most diabetics are trying to reach -- to be able to control their blood glucose without the need for any diabetic drugs.

This is the most difficult stage for most diabetics to reach. But those who embrace the program and follow the steps outlined in Chapters 14 and 15 reach this stage by being able to consistently control and stabilize their blood glucose with nutrition and exercise and the need for no drugs.

During this stage (and the previous stage), most diabetics are able to reduce the amount of insulin resistance and inflammation in their cells, enabling their body to repair the cells and the cellular/tissue damage caused by the diabetes.

During this stage, diabetics are able to achieve and sustain blood glucose stabilization by eating more green vegetables, plant oils, lean proteins, healthy fats, etc. while continuing to avoid the overly-processed and "dead"foods. This is key, because it allows the diabetic to build momentum with improving their overall health, including their blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

During this stage, your diabetes will be in remission and will remain in remission as long as you don't regress to the previous stage.

Unfortunately, some diabetics relax during this stage because they are not aware that there is still work to be done to actually reverse and eradicate the disease, or, at least, sustain blood glucose stabilization.

As a result, they may regress back to Stage 1 when their average glucose level eventually rises above 126 mg/dl and remains there. So, it is very important to stick with the program and leverage the success in order to move to the next stage (Stage 5).

Please Note: Once you reach Stage 4 and remain there for at least 6 months, then, you will have achieved the first level of reversing your diabetes!

Stage 5: Stable Blood Glucose (BG) & HbA1C Control 

This is the stage for diabetics to go beyond controlling their diabetesto actually reversing their diabetes.

This stage indicates that the average blood glucose level and hemoglobin A1C are both stabilized and consistently within the normal range without the need for any drugs.

This stage is easier to achieve once you've reached Stage 4 because your body is no longer fighting the disease and the drugs!

Please Note: Once you reach Stage 5 and remain there for at least6 months, then, you will have achieved the second level of reversing your diabetes.

Stage 6: Stable Blood Glucose (BG) & HbA1C Tighter Control+ 

This is the final stage for a diabetic to achieve complete reversal of your diabetes.

This stage indicates that the cells are healthy as the average blood glucose level and hemoglobin A1C are consistently within a tighter range without the need for any drugs; and, the disease is totally reversed – no insulin resistance and no cell inflammation.

More specifically, at the cellular level, the cells in your body are repaired (or replaced with healthy cells) so that they can absorb glucose while reducing cellular inflammation, cellular free radical damage (oxidation); and, red blood cell (RBC) glycation.

In addition, other critical health parameters are within their normal ranges, e.g. blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), minerals, enzymes, homocysteine, cholesterol, etc.

Note: In order to reach the final stage, you must have completed all 10-steps of the program as explained in Chapter 16 (Page 329). In most cases, this requires the use of (some) raw foods, raw juicing, periodic cleanse/detox, targeted wholefood nutritional supplementation, regular exams/blood tests, and emotional support as explained in Chapters 8, 9, 11, 13, 14, and 15.

Please Note: Once you reach Stage 6 and remain there for at least 12 months, then, you will have achieved the third and final level of reversing your diabetes.

FYI: We haves the only diabetes program that actually explains and provides the metrics so that you will know whether you have reversed your diabetes. Most reverse-diabetes programs stop at Stage 4, but, our program  provides two additional stages in order to fully reverse your diabetes.

You will know that you have reached Stage 6 (and your diabetes has been completely reversed) when you are able to eat (some) "dead" foods without experiencing any blood glucose spikes.

In addition, your average blood glucose must be under 99 for 6 consecutive months, post-meal blood glucose must be under 110, A1C under 5.4%. In addition, your blood pressure, cholesterol, BMI and cardiac risk inflammation markers must be in the normal range. By maintaining these metrics, you will prevent the onset of diabetic complications with the eyes, nerves, kidneys, and cardiovascular system.

Based upon the etiology of Type 2 diabetes, the analysis of its pathogenesis, and the sciences of disease, including pathophysiology, pathological anatomy, biochemistry, and psychopathology, the above diagram provides a high level overview of the six stages and the eight “living” elements of Type 2 diabetes control and reversal. This model is very flexible and can be customized to suit your health needs and lifestyle; and, can be used by you and your doctor to better track your progress.

Timeline from Stage 1 (Diabetic State) to Stage 6 (Non-Diabetic State)

In general, it will take more time to transform your biochemistry from Stage 1 (diabetic) to Stage 4 than from Stage 4 to Stage 6 (non-diabetic) because it will take more time for the body to overcome the effects of the drugs and repair the cells and reduce the insulin resistance/inflammation during the early stages.

Once the body has started to heal, you can accelerate the timeline by utilizing multiple therapies, i.e. raw foods, juicing, detox, nutrition.

As you progress through each stage of the wellness program, your average blood glucose level will gradually return to the normal range, and your body will repair and rebalance itself, while preventing further damage and complications.

How long it takes for the body to repair and heal from the damage caused by the diabetes is dependent on several key factors including:

  • How long the person has been diabetic
  • How many medications the diabetic is taking
  • The amount (dosage) of each medication
  • Avoidance of processed foods, and other "dead" foods
  • The number of Super Meals and Super Snacks that the diabetic consumes on a daily basis
  • The age of the diabetic
  • The frequency of blood glucose testing/analysis
  • How many of the 10-steps you've implemented
  • The program's level of severity that you've implemented based on your overall health.
  • The number and types of other complications, i.e. high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity, eye health issues, nerve health issues, cardiovascular health issues, kidney health issues, etc.

Note: Accelerating the repair process is especially important for people who want to wean off the drugs as soon as possible.

Note: The combination of eating mostly raw foods and drinking raw juices can help to accelerate your body's repair process and help to reverse your diabetes in less time. In fact, you should notice your blood glucose level starting to come down during the first week of the Death to Diabetes Program! -- as long as you are following the entire program, not just the juicing component.

Author's Perspective about the 6 Stages of his Program:

Most diabetics are happy to reduce their blood glucose to the normal range and lose some weight -- but, they're still dependent on the drugs to keep their blood glucose in the normal range!

Remember that the primary goal of my program is to transform your body's biochemistry and get healthy with blood pressure and blood tests readings in the normal range (Re: Chapters 3, 11, 14, 15).

When your body is healthy, the weight comes off as a by-product of being healthy! When your body is healthy, it no longer needs the extra fat or the drugs.

Transforming your body's biochemistry and eating healthy are more than just reducing your calorie intake! I reduced my calorie intake to 1200 calories a day but my blood glucose didn't come down, I couldn't lose any weight, and I still required 4 insulin shots a day! After some research and self-testing, I realized that it was more about the quality of the food than the calories.

Note: The over-focus on calories is misunderstood and misapplied with most diet s and diabetes programs -- that's why they don't work! Reducing one's calorie intake does not stop the diabetes pathology from progressing in the body. The key is the quality and types of food that contain the missing nutrients that diabetics need for their bodies to address the underlying root causes of their diabetes.

These missing nutrients help to initiate the healing and repair processes in the body and repair the damage caused by the diabetes. That, in turn, allows the diabetic to get the disease under control, stop its progression, and stop the spread of cellular damage. Once the progression of the disease is stopped, this provides the diabetic with the opportunity to reverse the disease pathology.

Besides eating properly, most people overlook some of the other key components of my program -- assuming the diabetic's objective is to get off the drugs and achieve Stage 4. [Re: Chapter 3 (the science of diabetes), Chapter 9 (how to detox properly), Chapter 11 (the critical blood/hormone tests), etc.]

Don't expect your doctor to support you and lower your drug dosage during Stage 2 and Stage 3. It's up to you to take responsibility. Unless your doctor is unique, he/she won't be happy to see you get off the drugs. If you can afford it, increase your BG testing -- you can project your A1C if you test frequently enough.

As explained in Chapters 11 and 14, the real litmus test is two-fold: (1) What is your blood glucose 2 hours post meal; and, (2) What is your blood glucose without the drugs. That will give you a better sense of what you need to focus on.

Remember, the drugs artificially lower your blood glucose! The diabetes is still wreaking havoc on the inside! The drugs are just a cover-up to give you a false sense of security! Don't fall into that trap! Re-read Chapter 3 especially; and, also Chapter 12 -- about the drugs and what they really do.

Once you reach Stage 4, your doctor may not be happy with you. But, who cares? You're healthier now. So, keep moving forward on your journey to wellness -- you're on the road to repair, recovery, and reversal (The 3 R's).

More About the DTD Wellness & Reversal Program

There are some misunderstandings about this program. First of all, this program is not a traditional diet or weight-loss program. It is a "biochemistry-transformation" and "get-well" program.

If a person is overweight, they'll lose weight as a byproduct of "transforming their biochemistry" and "getting well".

If a person needs to gain weight, they'll gain weight -- again, as a byproduct of "getting well". However, we do recommend that such a person get a complete physical exam to ensure that they're not losing weight because of some serious medical condition.

Control, Stop and Then Reverse Your Diabetes

In order to reverse your diabetes, you must first get your diabetes under control and then stop its progression.

Specifically, you must use the 10 Steps of the DTD Reverse Diabetes Program as an overall planning guide to first get your diabetes and blood glucose under control.

Then, use the 10 Steps to gradually reduce the insulin resistance and cellular inflammation to stop the progression of the disease and stabilize your blood glucose.

And then, and only then, will you have the opportunity to use the 10 Steps to gradually begin to reverse your diabetes.

Once you are able to get off the diabetic drugs and remain off of them for at least 6 months with an average blood glucose of 95, then, you will have reached the first level (Stage 4) of reversing your diabetes.

Then, if you remain off the diabetic drugs and remain off them for at another 6 months along with an average blood glucose of 90, normal blood pressure and normal cholesterol levels, then, you will have reached the second level (Stage 5) of reversing your diabetes.

And, then, if you remain off the diabetic drugs and remain off them for another 12 months along with an average blood glucose of 90 andbeing able to eat some sweets and not spike your blood sugar for more than 2 hours, then, you will have reached the third and final level (Stage 6) of reversing your diabetes.

Key Point: If you do not get your diabetes under control and stop its progression, you don’t have a chance of reversing any aspects of the disease. Most programs jump from you being diabetic to reversing your diabetes -- if it was that simple, we wouldn't have so many diabetics and programs/books that don't work.

This program goes beyond just controlling your blood sugar to address the root causes that fuel your diabetes and cause the damage to your cells, blood vessels, and organs. As a result, your body is able to repair the damage, causing your blood glucose to return to the normal range and giving you the opportunity to reverse and defeat your diabetes.

Every person with diabetes is at a different stage with their disease once they decide to change their diet and lifestyle. Also, every person is affected differently by this disease and by the drugs they're taking. 

In addition, some people with diabetes have to make drastic changes all at once because of the seriousness of their diabetes -- this is what happened to the author.

Consequently, because of all of these factors, the Death to Diabetes Wellness Program has 3 levels of severity. These 3 levels depend on how long you've been diabetic, how many complications you have, your age, and how many medications you're taking. The more sick you are, the more reason that you need to follow the more strict level of the program, i.e. Level 3.

Level 1 of DTD Reverse Diabetes Program

Level 1: This is the base level of the program that most Type 2 diabetics can follow unless they have major complications and other health issues.

As depicted in the following diagram, this Level 1 of the program requires that you transition from eating the conventional high-carb low fat diet to eating a lot less carbs, less protein, and more healthy fats, but in balance.

Level 2 of DTD Reverse Diabetes Program

Level 2: This level of the program is for diabetics who may have one or more additional health issues.

As depicted in the following diagram, this Level 2 of the program requires less carbs, more healthy fats, some organic foods, 60-80% raw foods, lightly-steamed; more raw juicing at least 2-3 times a day; only grass-fed animal meat (organic, free-range); no "dead" processed foods (0 servings a day); 4-5 meals/snacks a day.

In addition, you should increase blood glucose testing to 4-5 times a day; exercise 30-40 minutes a day, 4-5 times a week; detox at least once every 2-3 months; nutritional supplementation as required; daily emotional support; detailed journaling, record-keeping.

Also, with this level of the program, it is necessary that you implement all 10 steps of the program.

Level 3 of DTD Reverse Diabetes Program

Level 3: This is the most stringent level of the program, reserved for Type 2 diabetics who are severely obese, or have been diabetic for many years, have multiple complications, or want to reverse their diabetes in less than 90 days.

This Level 3 of the program is also for Type 1 diabetics; and, for Type 2 diabetics who have multiple health problems and take a lot of drugs; and, also for people with other serious health issues such as cancer or heart disease.

As depicted in the following diagram, this Level 3 of the program requires a lot less carbs, less protein, a lot more healthy fats, all organic foods, 80-95% raw foods, lightly-steamed; a lot more raw juicing at least 4-6 times a day; only grass-fed animal meat; no "dead" processed foods; no fast foods; no soda/diet soda/bottled fruit juices/coffee; no fried foods, no trans fats; no tap water; no vegetable oils; 4-7 meals/snacks a day.

In addition, this level requires an increase in blood glucose testing to 4-7 times a day; exercise 50-60 minutes a day, 4-6 times a week; detox at least once every 1-2 months; some wholefood/herbal tincture supplementation; daily emotional support; detailed journaling, record-keeping.

Also, it is imperative that you implement all 10 steps of the program, especially the raw juicing, raw foods and less carbs.

However, we strongly recommend that this is done under proper medical supervision.

Level 1, 2, 3 Transitioning

In general, most diabetics can follow the base Level 1 of the program in most cases. However, if you find yourself struggling or hitting a wall, then, you should move to Level 2. If you still struggle and as long as finances are not a concern, you should move to Level 3 of the program.

Once you reach Stage 4, you can dial it down to Level 2 as long as you are able to maintain proper blood glucose stabilization. Once you reach Stage 6, you can dial it down to Level 1, again as long as you are able to maintain proper blood glucose stabilization.

Note 1: The 3 Levels of the program align with the 3 Levels of the diet.

Note 2: If you're going to implement Level 3 of the diet, we recommend that you get the Raw Food Diet and Power of Juicing books, along with the Death to Diabetes paperback book (or ebook); and, possibly, the diabetes cookbook, even though only some of the recipes (i.e salads, soups, stir-frys) in the cookbook are Level 3.

Note 3:  If you have a lot of distractions, you may need to adopt a "Zero Dark Thirty" focus with your diet.

Urban Slang Definition: "Zero Dark Thirty" means "Going completely silent and avoidance of distracting/unsupportive family/friends, un-necessary relationships, social networking, and distractions until the ultimate goal (e.g. implementing a diet program, reversing your diabetes) is attained.

Simply Raw?
The Simply Raw videos have awakened many people to the power of eating raw to help heal their bodies. Refer to our Raw Food web page for more information. But, not everyone can eat raw foods every day for the rest of their lives! And, there's more to defeating diabetes than eating raw foods.

The Death to Diabetes Program goes beyond "eating raw" as there are multiple therapies for reversing Type 2 diabetes. Eating raw is one way to address the nutritional component of reversing your diabetes.

Although nutrition is one of the most important components, there are several other wellness components that a diabetic has to address beyond just "eating raw" -- if they truly want to reverse their diabetes permanently.

Some of those wellness components and activities that the Death to Diabetes Program addresses includes the following:

  • The other foods can that a diabetic can eat besides "raw"
  • How to shop for groceries properly
  • How to safely wean off the drugs
  • How to buy test strips (for free!)
  • How to perform blood glucose testing the right way and without the pain
  • How to get your doctor to work for you
  • How to detox properly
  • How to select nutritional supplements properly and not waste your money on the wrong supplements
  • How to use spirituality to fight the stress of being diabetic
  • How to deal with your family and friends who judge you for being diabetic, and don't really understand the frustration, fear, and anxiety of being diabetic
  • How to juice properly (many diabetics juice the wrong foods!)
  • How to make smoothies the right way
  • How to build a support system
  • How to perform meal planning effortlessly
  • How to save money. Diabetes leads many people to bankruptcy and homelessness because of the medical debt created by Western Medicine.

Please Note: This is unfortunate, but some of our senior clients struggled with going raw. So, we had to provide other options for them in order to reverse their diabetes, i.e. lightly-steamed vegetables, vegetable juicing, green smoothies, detox, etc.

The Common Mistakes That Diabetics Make Using the DTD Program

The Death to Diabetes Program has a high success rate of 97.1% when diabetics follow and stick with the program for at least 6 months.

Unfortunately, due to that success, some diabetics returned to some of their bad eating habits, thinking that it would be okay -- but, it wasn't!

To make matters worse, some had stopped testing their blood glucose, so they didn't realize that they were regressing!

Here are the key areas where most of these diabetics were making some of the same mistakes.

Program

Not following all 10 steps of the program. If you don't follow all 10 steps, then, you won't be able to maximize the benefits of using the program.

Not using all of the therapies. Similarly, if you don't use all of the therapies, you won't be able to maximize the benefits of using the program. FYI: the key therapies include nutrition, detox, raw juicing, supplementation, exercise, stress reduction, spirituality, testing, etc.

Not following all 6 stages of the program. Many diabetics stop at Stage 4; and, as a result, they never achieve maximum benefit of the program. 

Stopped following the program once your blood sugar returned to the normal range. You should not stop following the program just because your blood sugar has returned to the normal range. Instead, you should stick with the program to get beyond Stage 4! 

Not addressing the other factors that fuel diabetes, e.g. inflammation, glycation, toxicity, etc. Make sure that you are following all 10 steps and 6 stages plus using multiple therapies.

Nutrition/Detox

Not following a vegetable-based breakfast protocol. Make sure that you have at least one green vegetable with every meal.

Not eating healthy foods on a consistent basis. It is imperative that you eat healthy foods every day with every meal.

Not eating enough vegetables and health fats. Make sure that you eat more green vegetables and more healthy fats to lower your insulin levels.

Eating some "dead" foods. Avoid all dead foods at least until your blood glucose has reached the normal range and stayed there for at least 3 to 6 months.  If you do eat a dead food, then, follow it up with a meal packed with green vegetables and raw juices.

Eating some "dead" foods that you didn't know were "dead" foods. Make sure that you are not eating any dead foods. If you're not sure, ask us. 

Following a fad diet. There are a lot of good diets out there, that work in the short term. These diets will lower your blood glucose; but, they don't change your body's biochemistry from diabetic to non-diabetic. Some of these diets cause other health issues, such as heart disease, high cholesterol, fatigue, cravings, allergies, thyroid issues, leaky gut, etc

Cleanse & Detox

Not performing a cleanse-detox.  Performing a cleanse-detox on a periodic basis helps to remove the toxins that accumulate within the cells and tissues.

Supplements

Using the wrong supplements or low-quality synthetic supplements. The proper supplements can help as long as they are whole food-based. 

Supplements should not be synthetic and contain ingredients such as color dyes, preservatives, heavy metals, etc. Ideally, the closer the supplement is to a food source the better.

Blood Glucose Testing

Not performing blood glucose testing on a regular basis. This prevents you from knowing how well or how poorly your blood glucose is being regulated.

Not taking the appropriate corrective actions. Without the blood glucose data from testing, you can't take the necessary corrective actions to improve and reverse your diabetes. 

Exercise

Not exercising regularly. Without exercise, the body can't stabilize your blood glucose or get rid of toxins.

Doctor Visits

Not getting regular exams and blood tests. Sometimes you don't go to the doctor because you don't like him/her; or, because they keep trying to put you on more drugs.

But, there is one thing that doctors and Western Medicine do well -- they provide you with a physical exam and blood tests to baseline your health so that you can track your health progress.

In addition, regular physical exams can help to uncover an undiagnosed health problem that could be causing your blood glucose to rise.

Drugs

Using drugs to lower blood glucose. Relying on diabetic drugs to control your blood sugar creates a false sense that you're "controlling" your diabetes.

Drugs create dependency. Using drugs creates a biochemical dependency, but, more importantly, they keep your body in a diabetic state!

Other Medical Problems

Not getting regular exams and blood tests. This is why it's so important to visit your doctor; or, at least, get an annual physical exam -- to ensure that no new health problems have arisen.

Recently, people with Type 2 diabetes have been developing other diseases such as Type 1.5 diabetes, thyroid problems, other autoimmune health issues, etc.

Health problems such as Type 1.5 diabetes causes your blood sugar to rise for no apparent reason. Actually, it's due to beta cell dysfunction, where the pancreas is not producing enough insulin to match the blood glucose levels.. 

Emotional Support

Not getting any support. You need support -- you can't defeat this disease alone.

Procrastinating. Many diabetics who remain diabetic do so because they procrastinate about changing their diet or lifestyle.

Making excuses. Some diabetics make excuses to rationalize whey they're still diabetic.

Lack of motivation. Some diabetics lose their motivation to eat healthy or live a healthier lifestyle.

Not dealing with emotions. Struggling with the emotional side of diabetes can make it difficult trying to control your blood glucose. Examples of emotions that can affect you include: fear, anxiety, denial, procrastination, motivation, time, laziness, self-confidence, blind-faith in the drugs, food addiction/cravings, depression, apathy, shame, etc. (This topic will be discussed in more detail in a future post).

Research/Education

Not continuing to learn and do research.

Not taking any diabetes classes.

Not using some of the other Death to Diabetes books, e.g. juicing, detox, recipes, autoimmune diseases, drug weaning,etc.

Mistakes-That-Keep-You-Diabetic-Death-to-Diabetes

Summary

As a result, these mistakes or oversights may be keeping you from improving your health and your diabetes.

These mistakes can also cause you to regress from being able to control your blood glucose without drugs to having to use drugs to lower your blood glucose.

The biggest mistake that diabetics have made with our program is that once they were able to lower their blood glucose back to the normal range, they relaxed and started eating the wrong foods again!

Note: Even if you're not diabetic, many of these mistakes may still apply to you if you're struggling with your health.

As depicted in the following diagram, in order to accelerate the body's cellrepair and healing processes, the DTD program utilizes multiple alternative therapies to increase your chances of reversing your diabetes.

Alternative Therapies of DTD Program

The following Death to Diabetes books and ebooks address how to reverse your diabetes and how to use various altenrtive therapies to help you achieve optimum wellness.

Nutritional Therapy: Increase number of daily super meals and snacks (get the Death to Diabetes Cookbook). Also, read our web page about proper meal planning, preparation, and implementation. Meal Planning (and grocery-shopping) is the major area where most diabetics fail with their nutritional therapy.

Juicing Therapy: Add raw vegetable juicing to your nutritional program (get the DTD Juicing/Smoothies ebook).

Smoothie Therapy: Add green smoothies to your nutritional program (get the DTD Juicing/Smoothies ebook).

Detox Therapy: Perform periodic cleanse/detoxing (refer to Chapter 9 of the Death to Diabetes book, or get the DTD Detox ebook).

Cardio Therapy: Use the DTD Heart Attack/Stroke ebook, especially if you've already had a heart attack or stroke, or if you're having erectile dysfunction or other sexual performance issues. Also, use this ebook if you're overly concerned about preventing a heart attack or stroke.

Data Analysis: Increase blood glucose testing and analysis to make the necessary nutrition and lifestyle changes and corrections (refer to Chapters 11, 14, or get the DTD Blood Glucose Testing ebook).

Drug Weaning Therapy: Follow a safe and structured drug weaning process, as explained in the DTD Drug Weaning ebook.

Nutritional Supplementation Therapy: Add wholefood nutritional supplementation to your nutritional program (refer to Chapter 8 of the DTD book, or get the DTD Nutritional Supplementation ebook). Most people are wasting their money on vitamins and supplements! -- yeah, you, too!

Immune Therapy: Use the natural remedy strategies in the Autoimmune Alternative Therapies ebook to treat your thyroid and help balance and strengthen your immune system; and, treat various autoimmune diseases.

Motivational Therapy: Use motivational techniques to change your lifestyle (read Chapter 13 or get the Motivational PDF); or, sign up for a health coaching session or training class.

Weight Loss Therapy: Use the Death to Obesity Weight Loss ebook.

Wellness Therapy: Use the Wellness Protocols ebook.

Spiritual Therapy: Utilize meditation, yoga, or other spiritual methodology along with the Inner Spirit ebook.

Sleep Therapy: Ensure you're getting quality sleep (refer to Chapter 13 for sleeping tips).

Stress Therapy: Reduce the stress in your life (refer to Chapter 13 or get the Anti-Stress & Inner Spirit ebook).

Exercise Therapy: Increase exercise regimen, or add resistance/circuit training (refer to Chapter 10).

Boot Camp Therapy (Structure and Motivational): Use the comprehensive Boot Camp Program, but only if you have the strength and fortitude and are willing to change multiple aspects of your life and environment.

Day-to-Day Guidance Therapy: Use the 30-Day Diabetes Management Workbook to guide you on your daily activities from sunrise to sunset.

Health Coaching Therapy: Use coaching therapy to provide guidance and obtain expertise from someone who understands your health issues and is qualified to help you and can demonstrate his/her expertise. 

Sauna Therapy, Aroma Therapy, etc.: Use other alternative therapies, but do your research first!

Test the DTD Program: If you have any doubts, try the first 3 steps of the program to verify that it will work for you before you buy the book.

Level 3 Version of DTD Diet: Use the Death to Diabetes paperback book (or ebook) along with the Raw Food Diet ebook and Juicing/Smoothies ebook, plus any of the other ebooks that may apply to your specific situation, i.e. workbook, boot camp, meal planner, detox, auto-immunity, etc.

Note: Make sure that you avoid the insulin addiction trap discussed in Chapter 12 of the Death to Diabetes book.

Note: Refer to Chapter 6 of the Death to Diabetes book for a list of the top healing foods.

Please Note: When you start to follow the 10 steps of the Death to Diabetes program, your body will be in Stage 1 of the 6-stage recovery model. Gradually your body will begin to re-balance your hormones and reduce the insulin resistance so that your body requires less drugs and will progress to Stages 2 and 3. At that point, you should get the book (if you haven't yet) so that you can reach Stages 4, 5 and 6 to properly manage your diabetes, initiate the internal repair processes in your body, and possibly reverse your diabetes.

Author's Note 1: "Most people are aware that diet and exercise help to control their diabetes, and even slow down its progress, but it doesn't stop the disease (and the drugs) from causing more damage to your organs and blood vessels. This is a key point for diabetics who are doing a good job at controlling their diabetes with diet and exercise. I define this as "Stage 4" of my 6-stage diabetes recovery/ repair/reversal model. Diabetics who reach Stage 4 have a major opportunity to reach Stages 5 and 6, and actually eradicate the disease! -- instead of just controlling it."

Author's Note 2: "Some people are still eating the wrong foods, or they're eating so-called healthy foods that are not healthy! So, it is imperative that you educate yourself about the proper healthy foods so that you can successfully defeat your disease or prevent the disease from overtaking your body in the first place. You can also use the program to maintain your good health if you're not ill with any disease.

So, for those of you who are doing a good job at controlling your diabetes with diet and exercise (and no drugs), we recommend that you get the Death to Diabetes book -- so that you can get beyond Stage 4.

If you are doing a good job at controlling your diabetes with diet and exercise but you're still taking the drugs, we recommend that you get the Death to Diabetes book -- so that you can get beyond Stage 3.

And, if you already have the book, we recommend that you get the juicing book, the cookbook, boot camp program, or diabetes management workbook to help you continue on your journey from illness to wellness.

But, the one thing that you don't want to do -- don't relax and regress to eating the "dead" foods or your favorite comfort foods just because you've stabilized your blood sugar! At least, not until you've been completely been off the drugs for at least 6 months!
